Users claim the update renders their tablets useless

Apparently, Google hasn’t done a very good job with the newest Android update. It’s been more than a week since Android 5.0 Lollipop started rolling out to Nexus devices and many users report all kinds of issues with their phones or tablets after updating to the latest version of the operating system.

We’ve already reported on at least three known bugs that affect one or more Nexus devices that are running Android 5.0 Lollipop. The flashlight that kills the camera, the missing Silent Mode and the SMS bug are just some of the problems that Nexus owners who upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop are confronted with.

If you thought that the bad news would stop here, then think again. Apparently, lots of Nexus 7 users are now reporting that their tablets have been rendered useless after updating to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Google’s support forum is full of complaints about the issues affecting the Nexus 7 after the update. Most users claim their tablets have become sluggish to the point that it can’t be even used to perform everyday tasks.

Google is already aware of these issues, but there's no official word on a possible fix

Here are some issues that 2012 Nexus 7 tablet owners have reported on Google’s support forums:

“I have installed the update manually using disc image ....was shocked at how slow, buggy and unresponsive this was. I have tried the update twice now. Given up and re-flashed stock browser again. Nexus 7 2012 grouper nakasi.”

“I also have lots of problems since the update to Lollipop. Some to mention are slow boot, Facebook closes, Browser slow and freezing, lots of apps not responding, slow start and often non start of apps, etc.

I have cleared the cache using the procedure described, uninstalled lots of apps to no avail.

Is there a way to sort it out or roll back the update? My device is Asus Nexus 7 (2012).”

Google is already aware of the issue and has already responded to a few posts, though it’s unclear whether or not the search giant has already found the cause of the problems and is working to release a fix soon.

Unfortunately, lots of Nexus 7 owners regret that they upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop and think that their tablets were running much smoother with an older version of Android, namely KitKat 4.4.4.

Here is hoping Google will be able to find a solution to these problems and release an update or another factory image for Nexus 7 sooner rather than later.
