14 DAY TRIAL // A few days ago a new report hinted that once it arrived in the wild, Google’s new Android L build would be known as Android 5.0 “Lemon Meringue Pie” of LMP.
Just a heartbeat later, Android build (LRW50D) has been spotted in the Chromium issue tracker, running on a device developers call the “New Nexus 7” (as seen at Myce). This is code for Google’s second-generation 7-inch tablet or Nexus 2013 (the one manufactured by ASUS).
So what does LRW50D translate into? Since Cupcake, Google has used the first latter to name the release family. In this case, L probably stands for Lemon Meringue Pie.
The second letter stays there to highlight the exact code branch that the build was made for. The next two digits (W50) are a date code. The latter is for counting quarters, with being A=Q1 2009, therefore W=Q3 2014.
The two remaining digits (50) are there to highlight the date, which is translated into August 19. Last but not least, D is there to identify individual version related to the same data code, which starts off with A. So D means this is the fourth version of the day.
Well, there you have it, folks, Android Lemon Meringue Pie is out and about, so it shouldn't be long before the build is officially rolled out. Right?
