This fall, Mountain View-based Internet giant Google is expected to make official the next device in its popular Nexus lineup, and some more info on what the handset will have to offer is now available.

According to a recent article on Android.gs, the upcoming device will land on shelves with a 5.2-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 2K resolution and will be based on the upcoming LG G3 handset.

Supposedly called Nexus 6, the upcoming device might be the last handset in the Nexus series, as Google is rumored to plan on killing it in 2015 and to replace it with a new Silver lineup.

Apparently, Google will bring the new device to the market in collaboration with LG, despite the fact that it has already launched two Nexus phones together with this company, and that it has been already rumored to plan on partnering with another manufacturer for the new device.

Said article on Android Geeks claims that the upcoming phone will feature many of the design elements that LG G3 will arrive on shelves with, as well as its high-end features, but that it will sport a smaller form factor.

In the end, the phone might look as in the render above, but that is only a concept device, so don't get your hopes too high.

LG is expected to pack the upcoming flagship with a 5.5-inch touchscreen capable of delivering a Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, but Nexus 6 will feature a smaller, 5.2-inch display.

Moreover, it seems that the upcoming Nexus device might arrive on the market with a fingerprint sensor on the front, yet no official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now.

The phone is also expected to hit the market with a more powerful 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, as well as with Adreno 420 graphics and 3GB of RAM.

Moreover, the handset is expected to land on shelves in two different flavors, differentiated by the amount of internal memory, namely 16GB and 32GB, respectively.

It should run under the latest flavor of Android, maybe the recently leaked Android 4.4.3 KitKat or a newer, Android 4.5 version, and might also sport a high-end, 13MP or higher camera on the back.

LG has already started to send out invitations for a May 27 event, where LG G3 is expected to become official, yet the upcoming new Nexus handset might not make an official appearance until this fall.

As mentioned above, no confirmation on Google’s plans for the Nexus 6 has emerged until now, so we’ll take the above with a grain of salt for the time being. However, more might be unveiled in the not-too-distant future, so keep an eye on this space for updates on the matter.
