Later this month, Google and LG might announce the launch of Nexus 5, the next device in the popular series of Google phones, and some more info on the smartphone is now available.

According to leaked info that emerged over at Androidworld.it, the upcoming handset might arrive on the market with USB-OTG support.

Nexus 4 was also expected with the capability packed inside, but it was discovered to lack the possibility to actually power an external USB device.

Nexus 5, however, might change that, supposedly due to the fact that LG has resolved the aforementioned USB port issue, as Ausdroid notes.

The upcoming Nexus 5 is also said to hit shelves with a Snapdragon 800 processor packed inside, as well as with Adreno 330 GPU, and a TI USB adaptor/charger.

This last component is what should provide users with access to external USB drives, something that Nexus 5 is said to offer.

Server logs discovered a few days ago suggested that the smartphone would be able to read / write to external storage. However, given that it won’t have a microSD memory card slot, this detail might actually refer to USB drives alone.

In addition to this feature, Nexus 5 is also said to include optical image stabilization capabilities, something that was rumored before.

Android 4.4 KitKat will bring along some appealing features as well, including updated applications, such as the email one, which is now said to have been included in the OS as version 6.0 (up from 4.1 at the moment, as PhoneArena notes).

The platform might also arrive on devices with a launcher management system, and could have its core applications published in the Play store as standalone software.

For the time being, none of the above has been officially confirmed, and we’ll actually have to see whether the leaked info pans out or not. Stay tuned for more on the matter.
