Sprint and LG have just announced that the first smartphone to ship with Android 4.4 KitKat onboard, the Nexus 5, will be available for purchase beginning November 8.

According to the carrier, customers will be able to grab the 16GB Nexus 5 for as low as (€110) after a $50 (€37) mail-in rebate via reward card with a new line or eligible upgrade and a two-year service agreement or $18.75 (€13.8) per month with Sprint One Up (excluding taxes).

Furthermore, those who wish can pre-order the LG Nexus 5 beginning November 1. Sprint has also confirmed that Nexus 5 is the first Android 4.4 KitKat smartphone capable of using the tri-band Sprint 4G LTE network.

“Whether you’re streaming music or video, surfing the Web, gaming online or just catching up on email, in upgraded areas, Nexus 5 will offer Sprint customers a secure, fast connection using all three of Sprint’s 4G LTE network bands, giving customers the best wireless experience for their needs,” said David Owens, vice president, product development, Sprint.

With its 2.26 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and ultra-fast Adreno 330 graphics processing unit, Nexus 5 is one of the most powerful Android smartphones soon to be available on the market.

The smartphone boasts a stunning 4.95-inch True HD IPS Plus capacitive touchscreen display that supports 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, 445ppi (pixel density) and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

Another strong point of the Nexus 5 is the enhanced 8-megapixel rear-facing camera that features optical image stabilization, autofocus, LED flash and full HD (video recording).

“Nexus 5 by LG expands the successful LG-Google collaboration. This latest flagship Nexus smartphone combines the popular qualities of LG G2 with KitKat for the first time and we are proud that the Nexus 5 by LG will be among the first smartphones capable for use on Sprint’s new 4G LTE tri-band network, bringing to life our brand promise. With LG, it’s all possible,” concluded James Fishler, senior vice president, marketing, LG Electronics USA.
