Talk of Google’s next smartphone has already started surfacing online. It seems that this year the search behemoth will be turning its attention in the direction of China in order to choose a manufacturing partner for its upcoming phone.

If the rumors are true, Huawei will be in charge of producing the next Nexus phone this year and we’re certainly very curious to see the company’s take on the whole affair.

Anyway, in anticipation of the big event, artists have already started imagining what a future Nexus phone might end up looking like. So this week, we bring you an interesting concept depicting what could be the Nexus 5 2015 edition phone.

New Nexus 5 anyone?

Designers Derek Kurk and Jack McNenny also took the opportunity to detail specs, so this year we could see the Huawei-branded phone arrive with a 5.1-inch QHD AMOLED display and a robust Snapdragon 810 processor fitted with 3GB of RAM (why not 4GB, we dare ask?).

In the photography department, the phone could boast a 20MP camera on the back and a 5MP frontal shooter for selfie-taking and video conferences.

Huawei has a very interesting phone called the Honor 6 Plus which takes advantage of a dual-lens camera setup, so maybe the next Nexus phone will come boasting something as unique as that. It’s only an idea.

The phone relies on a 3,000 mAh battery which should provide enough juice for the phone to last quite a bit.

As you can see in the images, the purported Nexus 5 2015 looks very similar to the Nexus 6, but the back is quite unique, bringing forth colorful customizations.

It looks like the phone is made from a mix of polycarbonate and metal, but the designers don’t specify this aspect. Furthermore, it appears the phone is pretty slim, maybe boasting a profile of around 8mm / 0.31 inches.

Will the next-Nexus manage to step out from the crowd?

A lot of flagship phones come with similar specifications these days, so it will be up to Google and Huawei to implement something really special to make the device more unique.

Or they could just rely on the Nexus name and the stock Android experience and hope customers will pick the new phone nevertheless.
