The tablet makes a comeback to the store after months of absence

The Nexus 10 tablet’s status in the Google Play store has been changed from “Out of inventory” to “Coming Soon.”

We have been talking about the possible next-gen Nexus 10 for a while now. The tablet has been rumored to appear so many times before, coming under the banner of different manufacturers, including Samsung, ASUS and HTC.

But even as the rumors intensified, the tablet was nowhere to be seen. Then back in November 2013, the slate was sold out on Google Play and was then listed as “out of inventory” or with the “check back later” status. That prompted supporters of the new Nexus 10 theory to say the next-gen tablet is on its way.

And here we are in April and there’s no sight of the new Nexus 10. Even more, it’s emerging that Google might have secretly axed the next-gen Nexus 10 project.

Now the tablet has returned to the Google Play store where it currently has the “Coming soon” status. The image has been changed too, with a fresher looking one.

The 16GB version will sell for $399 / €290, while the 32GB model will ship out to interested customers for $499 / €362.

It’s a bit odd that the tablet has returned to the Play Store after almost half a year missing from the inventory, so we can’t help but ask, was there really no truth behind all those next-gen Nexus 10 rumors we saw a few months ago?

In recent months some rumors circulating around the web claimed Google will more likely discontinue the Nexus line by 2015 and take up a different moniker instead (speculated to be Play Edition).

Since the launch of the slate has been delayed a number of times, the new Nexus 10 was expected to arrive with the new Android 4.5 OS (which could be an upgraded version of KitKat or a new software altogether).

The new Nexus 10 is said to have a 10-inch screen with resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and draw power from a Samsung Exynos 5 / NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor combined with 3GB of RAM. The tablet should come equipped with dual cameras (5MP on the back and 3MP in front).

The latest news regarding the next-gen Nexus 10 came out of Asia to claim the tablet will be made by HTC.

HTC reportedly turned Google down on the offer of building the first-gen Nexus 7 in 2012, which prompted Google to turn to ASUS instead. But maybe the two companies have resolved their conflicting concerns and are now ready to work together to bring the new Nexus to customers?
