After showing off their previous device, the NT 700 that worked through IEEE 802.11b/g wireless access protocol, Nextouch has revealed their newest WiFi phone, named ET 500, at the VoIP/IPTV World 2006.

The handset is currently under development and brings an embedded 802.11n modem chipset which reportedly supports streaming video at a rate of 100MB per second. The 802.11n modem chipset that ET 500 is equipped with is what makes this handheld stand apart from other WiFi phones manufactured until now and seems to point out that Nextouch is trying to design this phone for voice and video streaming. The headset can last up to 3 hours of talk time and will go without recharging for around 80 hours on the standard 800mA (Li-Ion) battery which is mainly the same as in the case of the N700.

ET 500 features a 2.0 inch 260k color TFT with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels and can be considered one more step forward in the development of more complex WiFi phones probably being one of the first from a long series of handhelds that come with an embedded 802.11n chipset.

The ET 500 will most probably fit right in on the ever-growing WiFi phone market, among its brothers, whenever the people from Nextouch decide to make it available to the public.
