Electronic Arts has just revealed a few new details about the PS4 and Xbox One versions of FIFA 14, confirming that these next-gen editions of the football simulator benefit from a Pro Instincts mechanic that makes players much smarter on the field.

FIFA 14 is now available across all sorts of platforms, from the PC, PS3, or Xbox 360, to the PS4 or Xbox One next-gen consoles.

For the new platforms, Electronic Arts' Sports division used a brand new Ignite engine that supports plenty of improved gameplay mechanics, from better crowds, to more realistic behavior on the pitch.

Among the next-gen mechanics in FIFA 14 is the Pro Instincts one, which has just been detailed by EA through a special video.

"For the first time, players in FIFA 14 will be able to anticipate and respond with human-reactions through Pro Instincts. Players now have full awareness and context of what is unfolding around them – transforming physical play in the beautiful game," the video's description reads.

"The EA Sports Ignite engine on Xbox One and PS4 features Future Physics technology that enables players to quickly analyze potential outcomes of what is about to occur around them. Players have human-like awareness, anticipation, instincts and most importantly, reaction times. All 22 players on the field now make intelligent decisions like they would in a real match, such as anticipating tackles, avoiding tacklers or bracing for physical challenges. "

Thanks to the Pro Instincts, players will be able to skip over slide tackles and outstretched legs, grab limbs when pushing or pulling, enter arm locks while trying to get possession, or brace for ground contact when falling.

"On FIFA 14 for Xbox One and PS4 players make decisions four times faster than on previous consoles. Decision-making is now based on multiple frames per second, resulting in players that are more aware of their surroundings and react accordingly."

"Depending on the situation, an attacking player may check his run, back into a defender or brace for an incoming tackle. During a sprint, a player may feint or leap over a sliding defender while still maintaining possession of the ball. Defenders will recognize more opportunities to support and pressure the opposition to help create balance."

FIFA 14 is powered by Ignite only on the PS4 and Xbox One. Check out the game in action in the video below.
