Gamers were hoping for a Warhammer-related title

The Creative Assembly has already said that it plans to announce a new video game in the Total War franchise during the EGX event that’s starting today in England, and new leaked images are suggesting that fans of the series will probably get access to a new Medieval-themed title in the coming year.

A NeoGAF user who has helped to set up the booths at the expo has snapped the pictures and has since taken them down, probably because the company and publisher SEGA were not too happy with their existence.

The leaked images about the new Total War title do not show any sort of details about it, and the full name of the coming experience is masked by tape ahead of the official reveal, which is set to take place later today.

The details are showing a man with long hair and wearing what seems like a pretty classic scale-based armor and the logo of the series.

Medieval III is probably coming

The images do suggest that The Creative Assembly is working on a new Medieval III title, which will probably use an entirely new engine to take gamers back in history and allow them to control a range of kingdoms in Europe and around the continent as they battle for supremacy.

The rumors about a new experience set in the Middle Ages are supported by the fact that the studio’s last two experiences were Shogun 2 and Rome 2.

The previous Medieval: Total War experience was introduced more than seven years ago, and the company could improve the experience by using its new engine, which opens up new options both on a strategic and a tactical level.

A Warhammer partnership with little effect

Many fans of the Total War series were expecting to see an announcement about a Warhammer fantasy-based title, considering the partnership that The Creative Assembly has entered with Games Workshop in 2012 and has not yet resulted in any game reveals.

Such a title would also feature bulky armored men, but the reveal would probably also feature some of the more fantastic elements of the universe, including Orcs, Skaven and a variety of demons.

The Creative Assembly has just launched the Emperor Edition for Total War: Rome II, which features a range of improvements to the core mechanics and it also allows fans to explore a new campaign, called Imperator Augustus, which takes place just after the assassination of Julius Caesar.
