Next Tomb Raider Already in Development

- Franchise writer talks about Lara and Angelina

By: Silviu Stahie, Video and PC Games Editor

In a recent interview with Ian Livingstone, an English writer that is currently working on the Tomb Raider project, Spong.com has revealed that the next game in Lara Craft’s life is already in development for some time and he
also spoke about the new movie spawned by this franchise.

"The next Tomb Raider is well in development now. It was a very bold move for us to move the development from Core over to Crystal Dynamics in the US. It was a difficult decision, but we had to do it, because of Angel of Darkness not meeting our expectations". Nothing new here as we all know Angel of Darkness was a catastrophic failure that almost buried the game entirely. To top this good news he also mentioned that a new movie is waiting for the all clear: "Well we’re talking to Paramount, who have an option to do a third one - as has Angelina Jolie. But it hasn’t been green lit yet. They’re talking at the moment about who to get in as a scriptwriter, so it’s a fair way from the green light stage. I think they are also watching how well the latest two games are doing – Legend and Anniversary – which prove the fact that there is still this huge fanbase for Lara Croft. So, hopefully, ultimately, that will trigger their commitment to green light the next movie."

We are not surprised to see a sequel to the last game and I’m pretty sure there will be more to come even after that one. Eidos is finally learning the advantages of interview masked information and how these bits of knowledge can help the buzz around the game. He also mentions meeting Angelina Jolie but we’re not going to hold that against him because he is one of the few that can make a difference in the final game. The rest of us don’t even dare hoping to ever meet her.

The entire interview can be found here.
