Following the release of a Sidekick handset from Samsung, T-Mobile USA is reportedly getting ready for the launch of a new such phone, this time made by Sharp.

The Samsung-built Sidekick 4G, which landed on shelves at the wireless carrier a few months ago, was meant to keep the series alive, and it seems that the operator feels that more devices could be added to the family.

As of May 31st, the Danger service behind the Sidekick was closed, and T-Mobile's customers had to choose new phones to fit their needs.

With Samsung's device, T-Mobile marked the shift towards Android, and rumor has it that future Sidekick devices would continue on the same line.

Sharp was the company to provide the first Sidekick devices, and rumor has it that it wants back in the game, and that the handset in the photo attached to this article would come from them.

Moreover, Sharp is reported to have chosen Android for this mobile phone, though not all of the specs this device would arrive on shelves with emerged for the time being.

Rumor has it that the mobile phone would include a 3.2-inch display capable of delivering a HVGA resolution, complemented by the sliding QWERTY keypad that all handsets in the series include.

It would also offer Wi-Fi capabilities, GSM/CDMA connectivity options, along with built-in GPS receiver, but these are about all of the specs that leaked for now. The phone is expected to offer support for AT&T's network too.

Since Sharp was the company to provide the previous Sidekick devices, it does not come too much as a surprise than the company would launch new handsets for T-Mobile.

However, it remains to be seen what exactly they would have to offer in terms of hardware, as well as what price tags they would sport when made available, provided that there would be more than one such phone under development.

Specific info on the release date of the leaked Sharp Sidekick was not unveiled for the time being, but it might not be too long before additional details become available, so stay tuned.
