Expect the same type of gameplay seen in previous games

BioWare's Michael Gamble confirms that the next Mass Effect game in the series retains the feel of previous titles and that it won't be exclusive, or even timed exclusive, for the Xbox One console.

The Mass Effect franchise has been around for quite some time and has delivered some intense role-playing third-person shooter experiences across many different platforms in recent years. The first title appeared on the Xbox 360 and then on the PC, while subsequent experiences were multi-platform, debuting on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Some titles even reached the Wii U, although that experience wasn't exactly a best seller.

Now, for quite some time, BioWare's Edmonton team has been working on a new Mass Effect experience that retains the franchise's universe, while taking the action beyond the adventures of Commander Shepard from the original trilogy.

While some early concept footage was presented at E3 2014 last summer, BioWare is still keeping things under a tight lid.

A few more details are now available

Now, the Producer of the new Mass Effect, Michael Gamble, confirms on Twitter a few things about the new role-playing shooter.

First up, during the latest milestone review of the project, Gamble reveals that a lot of positive feedback appeared from BioWare's current big boss, Aaryn Flynn, who praised the game for having the same feel as previous Mass Effect titles.

While no other details were shared about that statement, it does hint at the same core gameplay seen in past iterations, such as cover-based third-person shooting, not to mention a strong emphasis on story, alien environments, plenty of alien races, and much more.

The new Mass Effect isn't going to be a timed Xbox One exclusive

With recent major games, such as Rise of the Tomb Raider for the Xbox One or Street Fighter 5 for the PS4 and PC, becoming permanent or at least timed exclusives, Gamble stepped forward to deny any such deal for Mass Effect.

In answer to a fan who wondered about an Xbox One exclusivity for the new Mass Effect, Gamble shot down the idea, classifying it as just a rumor.

Considering the recent Dragon Age: Inquisition from BioWare launched across PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, or Xbox One, expect a similar multi-platform debut for the new Mass Effect when it eventually appears.
