They say third time is a charm and fans of The Hulk hope this also applies in their case. Mark Ruffalo will play the green angry hero in the third film, “The Avengers,” and he promises it will be good because it will go down the “Avatar” road.

In other words, unlike the two other Hulks before this one, Ruffalo will actually get to play the giant hero because the film will use motion-capturing technology.

As James Cameron boasted at the end of last year, this kind of technology allows to render even the smallest human movement onscreen, in a digitally-created image.

Hopefully, this will make The Hulk a more relatable and convincing character, which, in turn, would make of the film more than just an “ok experience.”

“I’m really excited. No one’s ever played the Hulk exactly, they’ve always done CGI,” Ruffalo says in a recent interview with New York Mag’s Vulture.

That will change with “The Avengers,” though.

“They’re going to do the Avatar stop-action, stop-motion capture. So I’ll actually play the Hulk. That’ll be fun,” the actor says.

“I really love the first TV version of it, the Bill Bixby one. I’m gonna shoot for that a little bit. He was an everyman in it. He’s always on the run and trying to find love. It’s really a sympathetic character, before he turns into the Hulk and [expletive] everything up,” the actor goes on to say.

As for doing The Hulk in 3D, Ruffalo says jokingly, “I hope I don’t bulge in anyone’s face, that’s all I have to say.”

This summer, confirmation came that Edward Norton would not reprise his part in the follow-up to “The Incredible Hulk,” for reasons that seemed to vary depending on who was talking about them.

Shortly after, Marvel announced that the role would go to Mark Ruffalo, a rather odd choice, fans believed.

Since then, Ruffalo has been struggling to convince fans that not only will he do a great job at filling in Hulk’s shoes, but also that they will love the movie “The Avengers.”
