Codemasters has confirmed that the next Grid Autosport patch that's set to debut quite soon brings changes to the multiplayer playlists in addition to many other new things, in order to promote event variety in the online mode.

Grid Autosport appeared last month and served as a true successor to the original Grid (aka Race Driver: Grid) by focusing on motorsport competitions and less on the city-based events seen in last year's Grid 2.

Developer Codemasters has also pledged to better support Autosport and it's already set up a comprehensive DLC schedule with many new elements coming to the racing experience.

At the same time, the studio is also planning quite a few free updates and it's now detailed the multiplayer tweaks included in the next major patch.

According to the official blog, the update focuses on multiplayer playlists and aims at improving the variety in the online events.

First up, the number of potential routes has been drastically increased across all five disciplines, as well as the number of GP routes. Players should also notice that all locations feature prominently, like the Red Bull Ring.

Codemasters explains the changes and even mentions that routes will be specifically tailored to the cars owned by players.

"When you play GRID Autosport online, the playlists will now offer a lot more variety, as the total number of route / discipline combinations has increased over 400%, with both forwards and reversed route variations included wherever possible," the studio says.

"The routes chosen for each vehicle class have been tailored to suit their performance; with high-power vehicles featuring the longest, most challenging routes and vice versa. The number of times a location could appear is something we’re also looking at and the changes made will ensure the likes of Istanbul, Spa and Red Bull Ring all appear across each appropriate discipline."

The studio explains the current state of the multiplayer with the Istanbul Park track, which never appeared within the Endurance discipline and had low chances to pop up during Touring online matches. After the new patch, the track will appear way more often across all disciplines, including Touring and Endurance.

As of yet, it's unclear when the new patch for Grid Autosport will appear, but Codemasters hopes to roll it out as soon as possible so that players have a great time in the multiplayer thanks to the aforementioned tweaks. Expect a release date across the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 platforms soon enough.
