The first Surface RT was officially released approximately one month ago, but rumors pointing to a second-generation tablet have already reached the web.

It appears that Microsoft is already working on the second Surface RT, currently dubbed Surface RT 2, but according to MS_nerd, the device will actually be smaller than the current model.

Microsoft is reportedly pondering a 8.6-inch display (the existing Surface RT boasts a 10.6-inch ClearType HD screen with a resolution of 1366x768 px), as well as a Qualcomm chipset supposed to replace the current NVIDIA Tegra Chip used by the tablet.

What’s more, the Surface Pro is expected to migrate even more towards the ultrabook approach with an 11.6-inch display, while the Intel Core i5 CPU would be dumped in the favor of the upcoming AMD “Temash” APU.
