ASUS and Google have been rumored for quite a while now to plan the release of a second-generation Nexus 7 tablet PC, and it seems that they are finally getting ready to bring it to the market.

According to a recent post on DigiTimes, the tablet PC is set to become available in the retail channel as soon as July, with the 16GB flavor featuring a price tag of $229 (€172).

Apparently, Google does not want to compete directly with entry-level tablets, but will focus on competing against rivals Amazon and Apple, sources from the upstream supply chain reportedly claim.

However, the second half of the year is expected to bring to the market a series of entry-level tablet PCs as well, coming from computer makers such as Acer and Asus, while Samsung is said to plan on launching both entry and mid-level devices.
