We've been talking so much of the next-gen Nexus 10 that most of us have seemingly forgot about the upcoming Nexus 7 (2014 edition?).

But not everybody has. Korean site Bloter brings us fresh information concerning the specifications of the upcoming Google tablet. According to them, the new Nexus will make the transition from an ARM-based SoC to the x86 one, which translates into the latest-generation Intel Atom Z3000 from the Bay Trail family.

It appears Google likes to change chip platforms with every new Nexus 7 it brings out. First, it was the NVIDIA Tegra 3, then the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus and now we’re probably going to see the Bay Trail architecture step in and take over things.

More than that, it is speculated that the next-gen Nexus might be the first tablet of this type to sport a 64-bit version of the Android OS.

As for which company will be going to take up the manufacturing process, it is still uncertain, but the Korean report seems to hint that ASUS may continue the tradition it has initiated.
