Apple reportedly convinces Intel to give them the best they have

According to a new report, Apple is attempting to steal the show from competitors by securing a big order in Haswell chips from Intel. And they’re not ordinary chips either.

SemiAccurate has it on file from unnamed sources that “Apple has somehow convinced Intel to give them a unique part for the next MacBook Pro, something that no one else will get.”

According to the rumor, “this ultra-high performance part is something no one else can get for technical reasons.”

The chip is special, the sources said. It’s specifically tailored for the next-generation MacBook Pro and it sports a special version of the highest-end GT3e (Iris Pro 5200) integrated graphics solution.

The platform comes with “as much GPU power as possible,” according to this leaked tidbit.

This MacBook Pro refresh has been predicted by pundits, and there’s still much debate as to when the upgraded computers will ship, but analysts are saying September is the safest bet.

The Mac mini is also expected to get Haswell chips, followed by the iMac line of all-in-one desktop computers.

There are already some Macs in circulation that have been built around the Intel Haswell platform, including the all-new MacBook Air line with insane battery life and performance, and the up-and-coming Mac Pro, which has seen a radical redesign both inside and out.

Apple will eventually put Haswell chips inside all of its Macintosh computers, give or take those which might get discontinued. But there’s no indication that the Cupertino giant is planning to drop any of its Mac offerings anytime soon.

If the performance of the new MacBook Airs is to be replicated on the MacBook Pro front, Apple may end up selling some of the most powerful laptops on the market this year.
