Chip manufacturer MediaTek has been in the spotlight a lot lately and recent rumors seem to indicate the company is prepping to take the Western world by storm.

Recent rumors indicated Google might be taking up a partnership with MediaTek in order to bring to the market a budget smartphone with mid-range specs that will appeal to the average consumer.

But according to Asian publication Taiwan Economic Daily (via Gforgames), Google is not the only US tech giant that will partner up with the Taiwanese chip-maker.

Previous whispers suggested Amazon might be taking up MediaTek chips (MT8135 quad-core processors) for its next-gen entry-level Kindle Fire tablets.

Even if MediaTek has been known to deny reports saying its processors will power future Kindle tablets, it appears this is not quite so. At the moment, I can’t tell you whether all the 2014 Kindle line-up will be boasting MediaTek processors or not, or only the entry levels one.

Amazon is one of the US biggest tablet manufacturing, shipping 1.8 to 2 million tablets each quarter, so a partnership between the tech giant and MediaTek will be truly beneficial for the company.

Since the current Kindle Fire HDX tablets are already 6 months old, the next-generation Kindle tablet might be announced as soon as this September with MediaTek processors inside.
