The handset will probably be released during fall 2015

Late last year, BlackBerry introduced its latest collaborative effort with Porsche Design, the P’9983 luxury smartphone, a follow up to 2013’s P’9982 which was a variation of the Z10 touchscreen phone.

But this time, P’9983 has made a return into the wild with a QWERTY keyboard, modeling the P’9983 on the BlackBerry Q10.

The handset arrived with a touchscreen display of 3.1 inches with 720 x 720 pixel resolution and a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 processor under the hood working hand in hand with 2GB of RAM.

The Porsche Design phone has 64GB of space plus a microSD card slot to add up to another 128GB. It also takes advantage of an 8MP/2MP camera combo and 4G LTE.

Naturally, we expect BlackBerry and Porsche Design to once again conjoin this year to produce the next-gen P’9984 model.

BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9984 already shows up in renders

As we wait for an official announcement from the two companies, designer Raffi G has already taken the opportunity to produce a few renders revealing the purported smartphone (as seen at Concept Phones).

In his perception, the P’9984 model comes with a wider format, an aspect that could be considered as a bit reminiscent of the BlackBerry Passport.

The designer didn’t mention any specs, so it’s up to us to speculate, but given what the current model brings to the table, there’s plenty of space to improve.

As you can see, the front hosts a screen with a very small bezel and a QWERTLY keyboard. Just like in the case of the previous model, under the earpiece lives a big metal plate which has “Porsche Design” clearly inscribed on it.

The screen could be of a 3.5-inch or 3.7-inch variety of 720p resolution (although hopefully BlackBerry will increase it on the real deal).

The P’9983 has the camera living in the corner, while this concept has it sitting in the center just like it’s the case with the Passport.

Hopefully, with the new phone BlackBerry is going to take hardware cues from the Classic or Passport in order to make the device more attractive not only in terms of aesthetics.

We’re probably quite a few months away from the actual launch, but we’ll update you with more info in case real information related to the P’9984 surfaces.
