The team might be just teasing another name

The development team at Treyarch has already confirmed that it is working on the new installment in the Call of Duty franchise and it seems that the company is aiming to bring players back to the Black Ops continuity later in the year.

The studio has used its Twitter account to send out a message stating that B and O will be the starting letters of the game it is working on, and then it quickly moved to delete it, but an image was preserved by a user of the NeoGAF forums, who shared it with the rest of the community.

Presumably, the hint was too clear and Treyarch decided that it would be better to keep the name of the coming Call of Duty title a secret until the official announcement.

Of course, the studio might have been clever enough to find another name that uses the same letters as Black Ops or it might be simply teasing the fan community, and an entirely new setting might be revealed soon.

Traditionally, publisher Activision offers a first look at the new Call of Duty at some point in May and gives the fans a look at the actual mechanics at some point during the E3 event, which takes place in June.

Call of Duty might move the story entirely to the future

One benefit linked to a new Black Ops title is that it would allow the development team at Treyarch to use futuristic technology and mechanics, which have already been a hit with players in the form that they are presented in Advanced Warfare.

Black Ops 2 featured a storyline linked to 2025, so a sequel would probably involve another line of the Mason family and would allow the company to again mix contemporary and future elements.

Until Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is officially announced, gamers will be able to get access to an entirely new piece of downloadable content for Advanced Warfare, called Ascendance.

It will introduce another four multiplayer maps, a new Infection chapter for the Exo Zombies mode, and more weapons for gamers to use, while also bringing in some single-player mechanics to a special playlist.

Sledgehammer Games might also introduce a new patch in order to improve the overall balance of the weapons in the shooter.
