The parents of 6-year-old Emilie Parker, one of the students slain in Newtown at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, have talked to the attacker's father about his son.

As we reported at the time, Lanza killed his mother before taking her car to Sandy Hook and engaging in a mass shooting, taking the lives of 20 children and 6 members of the school staff.

The discussion lasted one hour and took place a few weeks ago, and Alyssa and Robbie Parker wanted to tell Peter Lanza that they are not angry with him.

“I guess the reason why I felt strongly that I needed to tell [Peter Lanza] something. And I needed to get that out of my system.

“I felt very motivated to do it and … I felt really good about it, I prayed about it, and it was something that I needed to do,” she is quoted by CT Post as saying.

In an interview with CBS News, Alyssa speaks about wishing to gain insight into the killer's motivation and his mental status at the time of the killings.

“He had the most information about his medical history, things that he had gone through and who he was and he had the ability to release that information to the people who it needed to be released to in order to gain as much as we could in this situation,” she adds.

The Parkers wish to learn more about Adam Lanza as they believe information will help prevent similar incidents and allow them some closure. No other details on their findings after the conversation have been released as of yet.

“I wanted to tell him that there was a lot of hope and opportunity to gain from this, that he held the keys to.

“There was information and things to be learned from what happened and without his cooperation it would go nowhere,” Alyssa Parker recalls of her discussion with Peter Lanza.
