As an update to the evolution of the lawsuit between News Corp. and DISH Network Corp., we bring you news about shocking statements of a Senior Manager at News Corp. The legal process between the two companies is a result of the testimony of a computer hacker who revealed he had been hired by News Corp. to develop pirated software. The DISH Network Corp. lawyers claim that the pirated software was used to break into their client's system.

It seems that a Senior Manager at News Corp has admitted to have continued to employ a hacker, six years after he found out that he broke into the competition's security system. Before this statement, NSD had denied the allegations according to which they had hired hacker Christopher Tarnovsky to steal information from the satellite TV company DISH Network Corp, and post it online. DISH Network Corp. lawyers claim that this illegal act has brought the company a prejudice of $900 million.

Abe Peled, chairman and chief executive of NDS, has testified this week, telling the court that he knew of the claims against Mr. Tarnovsky, since 2001, from a former hacker. "We made it clear that these people were turning over to the good side and are expected to fight piracy instead of engage in it and we trusted Mr. Tarnovsky and instructed him not to do so." This was Mr. Peled's statement to the court.

Employing hackers is a common practice among technology companies and governments. Their knowledge is put to use in order to find out the weaknesses inside their own security systems, a job description that also fits senior IT administrators. According to Tarnovsky's court testimony, NDS hired him to develop piracy software used to boost the security of NDS's clients. This comes to counteract the allegations of the DISH Network lawyers.

According to NEWS, the trial against NSD ended today and jury deliberations are expected to begin early this week.
