The blonde bombshell and her singer husband have finally settled all matters that were still pending and now they can, at last, say that their marriage is over for good. Jess and Nick's divorce was pronounced final in June 2006, but there was still the question regarding the way they were to split their money to be approached. Immediately after their separation, Nick said that he would be asking for financial support from his former wife and then backed out on his own words, claiming that he wants nothing else than what's legally due to him. After that, Jessica's father and manager told his ex-son in law that he would get $1.5 million if he walks quietly out of the marriage, an offer the star turned down. Basically, Joe's main concern was the fact that his daughter refused to sign a prenuptial contract, which meant that Lachey was entitled to half of the estimated $36 million the couple earned during their three years of marriage. Nick and Jess reached the financial agreement without filing a court petition and, even if he didn't want a legal dispute, the amicable settlement will get him less than half of what is his due. Friends of the pop star say that he will get more than the initial $1.5 million, but less than the $18 million, a sum that is rightfully his. Inside sources explain Lachey's attitude, by claiming that he 'agreed to end the dispute because he does not want to hurt anyone in a contentious court battle'. So, in the final run, Joe Simpson (the money-oriented father of Jessica and Ashlee) seems to have had his way in the entire situation.
