NewerTech's Mini Storage Box

Newer Technology, popularly known as NewerTech, announced today a new addition to its networked storage server line. The latest product from NewerTech, the miniStack NAS Network Attached Storage, is designed as the perfect way to store and share digital content over a small home or office network.

According to the news site hdtvorigin.com, this mini network attached storage box appeared as more and more users are using computers as home entertainment devices and when there are several computers inside a single family home, sometimes it is easier to share digital content by using a single storage solution, shared by all computers, that is accessible from the network.

The miniStack NAS comes with capacities of up to 750GB and the ability to stream over the network multimedia files. When compared to older traditional file sharing technologies, the miniStack NAS is up to six times faster and more responsive because of its advanced data storage technology and high speed connectivity by USB or Ethernet ports. To make multimedia streaming a seamless experience for its users, the mini NAS box comes with an integrated hardware 16MB of data cache memory. Security issues are addressed by the extra Ximeta NDAS 2011 network chipset that allows users to select different levels of read and write privileges, from no access, read only, or full access. As the NAS box implements Network Direct Attached Storage (NDAS for short) technology, it circumvents the traditional TCP/IP stack so it is safe from unauthorized outside access.

The miniStack NAS box is available in seven pre-configured versions ranging in storage capacity from 80GB to 750GB that are priced between $129.99 and $329.99. A "do it yourself" kit without a hard disk drive is also available for $79.99. Software compatibility will not be an issue for miniStack NAS as it can operate with both Macs and PCs running Microsoft Windows (ME, XP, 2000, Vista) and Linux.
