You can now put your documents into iBooks on your iOS device, according to the changelog accompanying iWork 9.0.4, the latest version of Apple’s productivity suite for Mac OS X.

“iWork Update 4 is recommended for iWork 9.0, 9.0.1, 9.0.2, and 9.0.3,” Apple notes.

“It addresses issues in Keynote, Pages, and Numbers, and adds export compatibility to Pages for the standard ePub file format (for use with iBooks),” the Mac maker explains.

The update is recommended for all users of iWork 9, and requires either Mac OS X 10.5.6 (Leopard) or later or Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or later, Apple outlines.

Support document HT4165 contains information regarding the contents of iWork 9.0.4, with all three applications comprising iWork featuring its own list of changes.

As such, Apple notes that Keynote 5.0.4 addresses an issue when printing handouts with rule lines, fixes an issue with the slide switcher, an issue when automatically resizing some images while changing slide size, as well as a problem with tables.

Pages 4.0.4 also fixes an issue with tables, and, most notably, includes compatibility with the standard ePub file format when exporting. Apple highlights that this is “for use with iBooks.”

Users can now create an ePub document that can be read in iBooks on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

The feature comes with a note on behalf of Apple saying “not all Pages formatting options are available in ePub.”

Finally, Numbers 2.0.4 fixes the same isssue with tables.

The Cupertino, California based maker of Macs and iPods outlines that updating to iWork 9.0.4 can be done either by using the Mac OS X built-in Software Update mechanism, or by downloading the standalone installer.
