Apple has released new versions of iTunes for Mac OS X and Windows with the purpose of adding support for the new CDMA iPhone 4.

However, according to the release notes posted on Apple.com, iTunes version 10.1.1 addresses several issues that crashed the application in certain circumstances, as well as to fix a problem causing some music videos to not play on Macs equipped with NVIDIA GeForce 9400 or 9600 graphics.

"iTunes 10.1.2 syncs music, movies, and more with iPhone 4 (CDMA model) and provides a number of important stability and performance improvements," the release notes included with the actual download reveal.

On the Support area of its web site Apple has posted two separate technical notes for the Mac and Windows 10.1.1 releases.

For Mac users, iTunes 10.1.1 provides a number of important bug fixes, Apple says.

These include:

- Addresses an issue where some music videos may not play on Macs equipped with NVIDIA GeForce 9400 or 9600 graphics.

- Resolves an issue where iTunes may unexpectedly quit when deleting a playlist that has the iTunes Sidebar showing.

- Fixes a problem where iTunes may unexpectedly quit when connecting an iPod to a Mac equipped with a PowerPC processor.

- Addresses an issue where some music videos may not sync to an iPod, iPhone, or iPad.

On the Windows side (64 bit), the Mac maker has applied the same code corrections, including a fix for an issue where iTunes may unexpectedly quit when resizing the iTunes window.

Apple also notes that iTunes 10.1 came with several new features and improvements, including the ability to use AirPlay to instantly and wirelessly stream videos from iTunes to the all-new Apple TV, iOS 4.2 support, and a host of stability and performance improvements.

According to the changelog for the new iTunes, this release also contains security fixes, although Apple’s Support site is yet to list those.
