Two new software updates are available for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard users today, one of which is iPhoto 9.1. The update adds new print product options and improves overall stability while addressing some minor issues. As expected, HP Printer Drivers v.2.5.2 for Mac OS X v10.6 includes the latest HP printing and scanning software for Snow Leopard users.

On the Support / Downloads area of its web site, Apple explains that the new version of iPhoto “adds several new print product options to iPhoto '11. It also improves overall stability and addresses a number of other minor issues,” the Mac maker reveals.

According to Apple, iPhoto 9.1 provides the ability to create and order calendars in iPhoto, adds new letterpress holiday greeting card themes, and fixes an issue that prevented videos downloaded from MobileMe or Flickr from importing correctly into iPhoto events.

The update is to be applied on all computers with iLife 11 / iPhoto 11 installed, and is a recommended one, according to its makers.

As far as the new HP printer drivers are concerned, version 2.5.2 targets systems with Mac OS X 10.6.1 and newer versions of Snow Leopard installed.

“This download includes the latest HP printing and scanning software for Snow Leopard,” according to Apple. The company outlines that this particular update “Requires Mac OS X v10.6.1 or later.”

Additional information about supported printer models is available via a tech note on Apple’s Support section.

The document lists software provided for printers and scanners as of 4 Nov. 2010.

There, Apple also notes that “Mac OS X v10.6 includes software for many printer and scanner models.”

“This software can be installed from the Mac OS X v10.6 Install DVD, and installed or updated by using Software Update (some models have software available through Software Update only),” it adds.
