A new iPhone 3GS ad is airing, and it is also available for immediate viewing over at Apple’s website. Titled “Avid,” the new TV spot is targeting sports fans who may be interested in using some of the apps available in the App Store to improve their sports routine.

The showcased apps are Golfshot: Golf GPS, the popular MLB.com At Bat 2009, and TouchSports Tennis ‘09. Priced at $29.99, $9.99 and $0.99, respectively, all three can be found and downloaded on the iTunes App Store right now.

And, as you can imagine, there are dozens, if not hundreds of applications under the Sports category in the App Store just waiting to be downloaded and used. Many are also free. You can visit the Sports section of the venue right here, and choose your favorite apps.

As “avid” sports fans should know, iPhone 3GS also includes built-in Nike + iPod support. Users just slip the Nike + iPod Sensor (available separately) into their Nike+ shoe and start the workout.

On its website, Apple describes the iPhone’s capabilities saying that, “The first thing you’ll notice about iPhone 3GS is how quickly you can launch applications. Web pages render in a fraction of the time, and you can view email attachments faster. Improved performance and updated 3D graphics deliver an incredible gaming experience, too. In fact, everything you do on iPhone 3GS is up to 2x faster and more responsive than iPhone 3G [...] With a built-in digital compass, iPhone 3GS can point the way. Use the new Compass app, or watch as it automatically reorients maps to match the direction you’re facing.”
