A new set of parts allegedly pertaining to the next-generation Apple iPhone have been leaked by a Mac-centric site whose sources previously posted pictures of a full-fledged iPhone prototype unit, though none of their leaks can be confirmed as genuine.

As usual, we are eager to keep our readers informed in the weeks leading up to a potential Apple event with the iPhone 5 being the centerpiece of the festivities.

Had it not been for the delayed launch of a new iPhone, we’d probably have skipped this so-called iPhone 5 leak.

It’s almost insulting to the Apple fan to push this many “alleged” next-gen iPhone parts onto the Apple blogosphere, especially amid Steve Jobs’ resignation, and other tasteless rumors regarding the former CEO’s health condition.

However, it’s important that we try and piece this puzzle together, if we’re going to determine which iPhone is more real - an all-new, fifth-generation model, or the rumored iPhone 4S.

The people at Macpost have these images to share (displayed above) whose sources are claiming they depict the “LCD, Digitizer screen panel and Home Button parts for N94 iPhone 5”.

The LCD part is labeled as N94 “EVT1″ (Engineering Verification Testing) with date ’03-March-2011′, according to the site.

The screen size and pretty much all the visible features are virtually identical to those found on the current-generation iPhone 4.

Editor’s note For the life of me, I can’t possibly conceive seeing Tim Cook take the stage to anxiously introduce the world to this - another iPhone 4.

No matter how much processing power, RAM, storage and iOS goodness Apple may throw inside an iPhone 4, it’s still an iPhone 4 by design. And history has shown that people are sold on design just as much as they are sold on the features.

If Apple doesn’t revamp both, they can kiss that winning streak of profitable quarterly earnings goodbye. And that’s surely not the plan.

Not if these parts don’t actually belong to the iPhone 4S we keep hearing about. Granted, an iPhone 4S is better than no new iPhone at all.

Finally, Macpost themselves admit to the possibility that they’re looking at iPhone 4S parts, rather than iPhone 5 hardware.
