Apple could be already selling these tablets for different wireless standards

Apple yesterday deployed iOS 7.1 with a wide range of new features, but also for a wide range of iDevices. The iPad lineup in particular is a tad wider, according to a discovery made in the underlying code of iOS 7.1.

Not long after iOS 7.1 became public, people started to notice two distinct new iPad models as being supported by the firmware: iPad 4,3 and iPad 4,6, both new listings that weren’t available before.

9to5mac reports that these aren’t major revisions and, in fact, should constitute minor upgrades or tweaks to existing iPads (such as optimizations for Chinese wireless networks).

Apple however is expected to announce a major revision this year in the form of an updated iPad Air, sporting a faster processor and perhaps other enhancements (more RAM, video power, battery life, etc.).

So far the company hasn’t dropped any hints that it plans to update its tablet computers, but in 2015 an even bigger upgrade is expected, in the form of a (rumored) iPad Pro tablet featuring a 12-to-13-inch display. This product will essentially wipe the MacBook Air off the face of the Earth, according to some analysts.
