Users who prefer to tuck away Apple’s apps can now do so with ease

iDeviceHelpus reports on the discovery of a new glitch in iOS 7.1, the latest firmware version for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad users worldwide. The bug enables users to hide unwanted apps from sight, such as Apple’s Game Center, which anyone hardly ever uses.

Riding on a newly emerged glitch that permits the creation of nested folders, this bug allows users to place stock apps like iTunes, Compass, Videos, etc. into a folder within a folder. The last step of the process is to delete the folders themselves, as shown in the embedded video.

Don’t worry about the apps, as they aren’t deleted. In case you need one of them at a certain point, all you need to do is reboot the iPhone/iPad/iPod and the once-erased apps will reappear.

In case you’re an avid user of one of the apps enumerated above, we salute you. However, do try to understand that most people have no good use for things like Stocks or even the Videos app. So be a sport and don’t quarrel in the comments with other people who couldn’t care less about Game Center and other stock apps that ship with iOS.

iOS 8 should really just do away with some of these apps and Apple should allow people to download them from the App Store, just like it does with iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand. In fact, chances are people use the iLife and iWork suites far more than any of these standard apps that ship with iOS 7.

Another added benefit of eliminating some of this clutter is, of course, storage. Apple already has a good reputation in this department, offering the most amount of storage compared to the advertised figure (16GB, 32GB, 64GB, etc.) Why not do even more? Customers are sensitive about marketing gimmicks, so the closer it is to reality, the better.

Before iOS 8 is announced and subsequently deployed, the Cupertino company is expected to release at least one more incremental update for iOS 7 users. Several flaws are already being reported following the launch of iOS 7.1, including some annoying visual tweaks, like the Shift key in the virtual keyboard being of the same color as the rest of the keys when held down.

iOS 8 probably won’t make its debut until fall, but Apple will most likely offer a preview at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference this summer.
