Given the fact that the eSATA and USB 3.0 are currently some of the fastest data transfer interfaces available, the people over at NewerTech have decided that creating an adapter to “bridge” the two would be quite a logical idea, and thus released the eSATA to USB 3.0 Adapter.

So, what the NewerTech eSATA to USB 3.0 Adapter does is allow users to connect an eSATA drive enclosure to the adapter and then plug the adapter into a computer's USB 3.0 port, thus enabling one to enjoy higher data transfer rates and shorter data transfer times, which, after all, is quite an important topic these days.

According to NewerTech, their adapter supports SuperSpeed USB (USB 3.0) data rates up to 5Gb/s, as well as 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch eSATA hard disk drives and SSDs, while also being backward compatible with previous versions of USB 2.0/1.1, not to mention previous versions of eSATA devices (1.5Gb/s).

Plus, it won't take too much space wherever the user might place it, given the fact that it measures 2.25in x 2.5in x .75in (57.3mm x 64.2mm x 19mm) and weighs around 1.0 ounces (28.35g).

Moreover, it works quite well with both Mac and PC systems, requiring Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later with an available and supported USB 3.0/2.0 port (USB 3.0 recommended), or a Notebook or Desktop PC with an available USB 3.0/2.0 port (USB 3.0 recommended) Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, VISTA, 7 or later.

Last, but certainly not least, we'll have to mention that the adapter from NewerTech, while not exactly very cheap (it sells for around 30 US dollars), has a more than decent price point, given the level of versatility it provides for all the users out there looking for a solution to bridge eSATA and USB interfaces while maintaining high data transfer rates.
