In the recent period, YouTube was assaulted by the new online video sharing services that were especially designed to challenge it and attract more users and money.
Today, a new video product struggles to become popular, being based on an innovative idea: the service displays how-to videos, teaching you to make different things after you view a simple clip. As far I can see, 5min has a decent database with numerous videos in multiple categories, allowing users to upload their own clips with ease. Although the database will be increased with the users' contribution, the videos are accessible through a nice interface and well-structured categories.

"5min is a place to find short video solutions for any practical question and a forum for people wanting to share their knowledge. The vision behind 5min is a very simple one: any solution can be visually explained in no more than 5 minutes. Our aim is to create the first communal Life Videopedia allowing users from all over the globe to contribute their knowledge by sharing visual guides covering arts, business, fashion, sports, health, tech, food, and much more," it is mentioned in the description of the service.

So, YouTube is more and more assaulted by other services able to provide the same features with more or less advantages. Take for example the upcoming product announced last week and powered by the deal made between Microsoft, NBC and News Corporation that is especially meant to challenge YouTube and attract the majority of users. Some days ago, I presented you another similar product, GodTube that was built by prayers and meant to attract Christians to their page. Today, 5min hits the market with a new idea and hungry for popularity.
