Some plants require constant gardening. And since spring is already here, maybe some of you would like to make a love statement to your plants. This device may be exactly what you need.

The New York Times Garden Expert is a user-friendly PDA with a pseudo-LCD screen that contains over 1000 gardening-related questions and answers. It can be very useful when it comes to taking care of flower gardens, kitchen (or balcony) plants or potted gardens.

This gadget can probably tell you what it takes to keep your Bonsai small. No, not that. But it contains lots of interesting information taken from the very popular New York Times gardening column.

A simple set of buttons lets you search and read the data base that contains answers to questions like: "What flowers attract butterflies?" or "Will poppies bloom in my part of the country?". It has search keys and also a "Save" feature that helps you "bookmark" a page. The device works with 2 AAA batteries (not included) and measures 6" x 8". It looks like a cross breed between a big radio and a watering can. The reason why it's shaped like a watering can is pretty simple: attracting butterflies. Err, sorry, I meant to write customers.

It also comes with easy to understand green (how cute!) buttons, which is good knowing that plant lovers are not always into stuff like gadgets. The New York Times Garden Expert is surely using the latest tech, but considering it sells for 20$, it seems like a good choice for your ma's birthday present. It's cheaper than a caravan, eh?

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
