Representatives from environmental groups and major players operating in the solar industry join forces to empower The New York Solar Jobs Coalition, an organization aiming to encourage New York to pass a solar bill by 2012.

In their opinion, the development of solar industry implies the creation of thousands of green jobs and a significant boost for the entire economy.

Therefore, the Coalition sets a very ambitious eco-friendly goal. Its members want to witness a radical transformation in New York city's current path. Representatives hope the State will add 5,000 megawatts of solar power to the entire energy grid by 2025.

Moreover, once this change is implemented, they expect a proper legal framework meant to increase the numbers and popularity of the solar industry, stimulating the demand.

Such a strategy would come as an effective response to a top priority: the environmental imperatives of curbing the greenhouse gas emissions, reaching high levels in a city that never sleeps.

“All members of the Coalition agree that applying labor protection laws, specifically the prevailing wage law, to the installation of photovoltaic devices above a certain size threshold is the best way to ensure that New York is expanding solar technology while at the same time creating good, local, family-supporting green jobs,” declare the people behind this initiative.
