A New York-based balloon artist, by the name of John Reid, has secured himself a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records after creating the world’s largest balloon sculpture ever made by a single person at the Salt Lake Comic Con FanXperience event on Friday.

Reid began working on the sculpture on Thursday morning. He reportedly spent 42 hours inflating thousands of colored balloons to build a 50-foot (15-meter) tall Transformers robot, Poptimus Prime.

For this amazing project, the artist used 4,302 purple, green, black, gray and white balloons. According to Deseret News, the finished figure was so tall that it could not fit upright in the convention center, so Reid and 10 volunteers repositioned it to a kneeling posture.

The project was displayed during the convention at the Epic Balloons booth, and people who attended the event were able to take pictures with the record-setting sculpture.

“I’m really proud and really happy that my friends pushed me harder than I thought I could do,” the artist said after finishing the balloon robot.

Reid also mentioned that representatives from Record Holders Republic already confirmed that his creation was, indeed, the largest balloon sculpture ever made by a single person.

John Reid, who has been working with balloons for 20 years, is an internationally recognized and award-winning balloon twister. He created over 100 balloon dresses worn by models during fashion shows, and his unique designs have been shown at Disney, the Martha Stewart Show, and The White House.
