New Yahoo! Messenger 3.0 Beta for Mac Released

A new version of Yahoo! Messenger for Mac is now available for free download. The latest beta version of Messenger for Mac fixes the privacy feature for users wishing to assign individual stealth settings for their friends, "so if you want to appear online to everyone but not to your boss Joe, you can set yourself to appear offline to him but online to your friends," says the team of engineers at Yahoo!

“Although Windows users have been availing themselves of the feature for quite some time ... Mac users will now be able to add Windows Live Messenger contacts to their Yahoo! Messenger list without any issues. We also fixed a problem that was affecting some file transfer requests," the same people said when releasing Yahoo! Messenger 3.0 for Mac. Currently at its fourth beta release (4 Build 156957), the software includes enhancements like,

· Free voice conversations with other Messenger users on both Mac and Windows.
· Cheap PC-to-phone calls: make calls from Messenger to landline and mobile phones at low rates with Yahoo! Phone Out.
· Receive phone calls: get a phone number for your Messenger and start taking phone calls on your computer with Yahoo! Phone In. Plus, choose your area code!
· Forward calls and voice conversations to another phone number.
· Get voicemail by email.

Yahoo! also noted that other improvements to stability and user experience have been added with recent releases of Messenger for Mac. The popular IM client requires nothing more than a connection to the Internet, an active (free) Yahoo! Account, CarbonLib 1.5 installed, and Mac OS 9 or later.
