Microsoft has revealed that it has begun rolling out the traditional Xbox 360 Spring System Update, which contains several improvements to background services and prepares the console for future enhancements.

Microsoft has unveiled quite a lot of new features that are coming to the Xbox 360 later this year but, until things like SmartGlass or Internet Explorer actually appear, the company has posted a new software update for the device.

According to the company’s Xbox Live community manager, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, the system update for the home console has begun rolling out and will be available to every user by the end of next week.

The new software doesn’t bring any new features, as it just makes some behind-the-scenes improvements, while setting the stage for future enhancements.

Expect to hear an official announcement when the update is available for all Xbox 360 owners.
