Network president says they’re yet to ditch plans for “Amazon” project

Some time ago, CW was working on a project called “Amazon,” which was to Wonder Woman what “Smallville” was to Superman. Network President Mark Pedowitz says fans shouldn’t lose hope of seeing the heroine in this format.

Asked during a recent press event if CW will still be home to Wonder Woman, Pedowitz’s answer was, “Oh God, yes!,” the Los Angeles Times reports.

A script for “Amazon” is done but new people have been brought in to work on a second draft. Considering the interest in a Wonder Woman series, which seems to have no luck to break on the market, it’s no wonder CW wants to give it a shot.

“It is being redeveloped. We’re waiting for the script to come in. We have not seen it yet. We are preparing to pilot it off-cycle should the script be what we want it to be,” he says.

“We do not want to do something that doesn’t work for that particular character. It’s the trickiest of all the DC characters to get right,” Pedowitz admits.

Indeed, that seems to be the case. A 2011 NBC project with David E. Kelley in charge and Adrianne Palicki as lead never got to get off the ground despite fan support.
