Concomitantly with the introduction of its latest iteration of the Windows Mobile operating system, along with the new Windows Phone branded devices, Microsoft has also made sure to kick up a notch the applications and services designed to run on top of the platform. In addition to the apps that ship with Windows Mobile 6.5, the Redmond company has also updated the Windows Live applications and services in order to embrace the new Windows Phone devices. And in fact, a member of the Windows Live for Windows Mobile team referred to the update under the new moniker of Windows Live for Windows Phone.

It was on October 6th, 2009 that Microsoft and the mobile phone manufacturers that partnered with the company launched an array of Windows Mobile 6.5 powered devices.
