Build 15.4.2866.713

The next generation Windows Live Messenger, and the entire upcoming iteration of the Windows Live suite of rich applications designed to connect Windows Vista and Windows 7 to the Cloud, are getting closer to release. In the second half of June 2010, Microsoft made available the first public Beta for Windows Live Wave 4. Alongside Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, Mail, early adopters also got access to the Beta of Windows Live Messenger Wave 4. Sources now indicate that the Redmond company produced a new development milestone of Windows Live Messenger Wave 4, one that supersedes the Beta Build.

It appears that the software giant has started serving Build 15.4.2866.713 of its next major iteration of the instant messaging client to a limited number of testers (Build 15.4.2866.713 is not available for download to the public). For the time being, this information is confirmed only by Francisco Martín García, and as such needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Microsoft has yet to confirm that Windows Live Messenger Wave 4 Beta Build 15.4.2866.713 is an official release.

Windows Live Messenger Wave 4 Build 15.3.2804.607, which is the public Beta development milestone released by the Redmond company last month, continues to be available for download to end users. However, it is not uncommon for the software giant to share additional testing releases of its software products with limited groups of testers, while far less Builds are offered for “public consumption.”

What’s extremely interesting with Windows Live Messenger Wave 4 Beta Build 15.4.2866.713 is the fact that, for the first time, the IM client has been labeled as version 2011. Speculation already indicated that Microsoft plans to release the successor of Windows Live Wave 3 as Windows Live 2011. In this regard, the company could end up branding the next version of WLM as Windows Live Messenger 2011.

“The new Windows Live Messenger is designed to address all these challenges, make your conversations more meaningful, and give you the tools to bring together all your social updates and help you connect with the people that matter. We have reinvented Messenger to do four important things:

- Deliver the best IM — making common tasks easier and personal interactions more meaningful - Seamlessly integrate into the things you’re already doing on the web and on your phone - Give you the ultimate social dashboard for staying in touch while eliminating the noise - Provide tools that are designed to put you in control and keep your private life private,” Microsoft said.
