Windows 9 is expected to bring some significant changes in terms of design, at least for the Modern UI, but the company has decided to remain completely tight-lipped on what’s to come in the operating system.

With the launch expected to take place in April 2015, designers around the world are using the existing rumors to create more or less appealing concepts that envision some of the features to be part of Windows 9.

You might be familiar already with p0isonParadise’s concepts, but this time he goes for a more radical change that goes all-in on flat UI elements.

As you can see in the two designs included in this article, all icons of the operating system are following the ideas of the Modern UI style, while also going for an approach that we’ve already seen on other platforms, with a system bar at the top of the screen, and a notification bar at the bottom.

The latter is also being used for social alerts and for providing quick access to a Start Menu, which is said to be more ergonomic and optimized for the new flat design of the operating system.

Aero is also part of the concept, adding transparency to some of the windows you get to launch, and so is a redesigned version of File Explorer that also goes for a flat look with the help of new file icons and simple design changes.

Windows 9 is expected to launch in April 2015, with Microsoft said to be planning to unveil details on the upcoming operating system this year at the BUILD 2014 developer conference also taking place in April. Windows 9 is also expected to come with a bunch of feature improvements, including a Start Menu and options to run Metro apps right on the desktop.
