Windows 8.1 Update 1 is expected to be unveiled in April 2014 at the build developer conference, but new details reach the web on a regular basis.

This time, CentrumWindows has posted a picture of what appears to be the upcoming Windows 8.1 GDR update, even though no visual improvements can be spotted.

If this screenshot is indeed real and what we have here is the new Windows 8.1 update, the build number is very likely to be 9600.winblues14_gdr_lean.131222-2030, which means that Microsoft isn’t planning any kernel update for its operating system.

Aside from what we can see in this picture, it’s believed that Microsoft is also preparing to bring back the Start Menu in Windows, while Windows 9 could revamp the Metro interface with options to run Modern apps in their very own windows on the desktop.

Special thanks to Hubert for letting us know about this.
