Microsoft is set to introduce the new Windows 8.1 in late June and, according to a new bunch of reports citing inside sources, the Start button will definitely be there.

Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet writes that Microsoft will implement a brand new Start button that will look just like the Start Charm currently available in Windows 8.

As I’ve told you a few hours ago when the first Windows 8.1 Start button screenshot got leaked, it will be placed in the lower left corner, just like its predecessors.

In addition, it appears that the Start button will be enabled by default, but users will also be provided with a dedicated option to disable it, just in case they like the Windows 8 interface more.

The Start button, however, won’t launch a Start Menu. Instead, if you move the mouse cursor into the lower left corner, even when using the Metro UI, you’re provided with the Start button, instead of a Start Screen preview.

This way, Microsoft makes sure that users can quickly jump from any Metro app to the Start Screen.
