Windows 8.1 will debut next week, so Microsoft is expected to deliver the last round of updates before general availability in just a few days.

Bug fixes and features are likely to be part of the update cycle, with the company expected to introduce several new options supposed to streamline the overall experience with Windows 8.1.

An app recommendation engine is said to be one of the key additions to Windows 8.1, with Microsoft confirming in a blog post that such a feature would be powered by Bing.

Basically, the new option would collect data on your previous downloads and ratings, providing suggestions whenever you’re looking for an app.

“Finding those apps will also be easier with the addition of a Bing recommendation engine that suggests apps and games based on factors such as previous selections, community favorites, and a range of other signals that create connections between customers and the best apps for them,” Microsoft briefly said.

While it not yet clear how this feature is going to be implemented in Windows 8.1, more details are likely to be provided in just a few days, as the OS update is set to be unveiled on October 18.
