Windows 10 for phones preview is expected to launch anytime soon, despite the fact that Microsoft is struggling to keep all details regarding the release date secret, but in the meantime, more information comes from those who have already installed the mobile OS.

These all-new screenshots coming from China reveal a little bit more about the operating system that’s supposed to bring the smartphone OS closer to the desktop and tablet platform, as Microsoft is trying to offer customers a similar experience no matter the device.

These screenshots do not reveal too much about Windows 10 for phones, but they do confirm that the app list is going to look very similar to the one in Windows Phone 8.1.

New file manager app

One of the things that can be seen in these photos is the integration of a new file manager app that apparently allows users to easily manage their files, including documents, music, pictures, ringtones and videos.

Most likely, this new file manager is very similar to the so-called “Files” app that’s developed by Microsoft and available free of charge from the store, so expect it to provide access to OneDrive content as well.

Of course, many things could change until the preview version of Windows 10 for phones actually ships, but there’s no doubt that some of the features that got leaked in the last couple of days would be there.

Windows 10 for phones preview will be available for most devices running Windows Phone 8.1, but Microsoft has suggested that a number of devices won’t be supported, most likely because of their limited hardware capabilities.

The company has revealed that it’s now working on a list of supported devices and has explained that full information will be revealed when the first technical preview becomes available to all users who have registered for the Windows Insider program.
