Record boss Clive Davis to confirm it soon

This has been such a long time in the making that many fans have given up hope completely. But there’s room for dreaming again, as buzz in the blogosphere is growing stronger that Whitney Houston, the “untimely diva,” will drop a new album this March, with mentor and record boss Clive Davis to confirm it in the coming weeks.

“The music industry’s hottest party in town - Clive Davis’ Annual Pre-Grammy Party - is set to be the golden ticket this year, with word that Whitney Houston will start her official comeback at the bash.” the New York Post writes, citing sources in the industry well aware of the development of the much expected Houston album.

Moreover, not only will the comeback album become official at the glitzy party, but Whitney will also perform a bunch of tracks off it to let A-listers get a first taste of what she’s been working on for all this time, the same source says. Cue to the New York Post - “Ms. Houston is set to perform brand new tracks completely live from her upcoming album. Whitney's mentor, Clive Davis, also announced the new album will be due in March.”

Word of a comeback album from Whitney, undoubtedly one of the most appreciated and best-selling female performers of our time, first got out early last year, on the same Pre-Grammy Party. Although, back then, it was British sensation Leona Lewis that got most of Davis’ attention, as well as that of the media, the fact that Whitney was working on a brand new studio material did not pass unnoticed either.

If this rumor does check out, this would be Whitney’s first album since the 2003 “One Wish: The Holiday Album,” as well as her vehicle back into the good graces of the public, which has been way too long focused on her personal life and the many troubles that marred it, much to the disadvantage of her immense talent.

Then again, this could very well be only wishful thinking, as several music-oriented publications point out. If Whitney does have an album coming out as early as March 2009, then promotion for it should have started long ago, they say. Do stay tuned here for more details, once they become public.
