Getting a ticket for speeding is not exactly what anyone wants these days, and although actually respecting the speed limits should prove to be the easiest way to avoid such an unpleasant situation, the new PRO-3600 High Performance Remote laser/radar detector from Whistler will make sure that no cops stand between you and your need for speed.

The Whistler PRO-3600 is a new remotely mounted detector designed for discreet installation and comes with an easy-to- understand text display and voice module indicating all aspects of modes, alerts, and GPS derived features.

Furthermore, the multi-piece system incorporates an interface box mounted under the dash that allows for additional modules to be connected, and a small display console, LED, and voice module are then added to complete the installation.

New features such as Ka Max mode achieve the maximum performance from each unit while the RSID (Radar Signature ID) mode allow the user to know if the Ka signal is from one of the common Ka band police radar guns by indicating 33.8, 34.0, 34.3, 34.7, and 35.5 or if it was a potential false alert.

The LSID (Laser Signature ID) mode provides the user with a unique ability to identify the PPS (Pulses per Second) rates and store the ones that may be caused by laser based cruise control systems and other non speed enforcement sources of laser.

Stored PPS rates will give an alternate alert that is less intrusive, while the four user selectable laser segments will also aid in ignoring false laser alerts such as those caused by Laser Assisted Cruise Control systems found on some models offered by Toyota, Lexus, Infinity, and others.

The brains of the unit reside in a module that is mounted under the dashboard and sport three AUX ports for future modules.

An optional laser module is available for additional laser coverage, while dedicated ports are available for an optional GPS module and an optional rear radar/laser antenna.

With the optional GPS module, you have access to Traffic Camera Alerts, an 8-Point Compass Indicator, 4-Point Audible Compass Heading, Clock, Speed, Odometer, Elapsed Time, Over-Speed Alerts, Selective Speed Auto Quiet, Selective Speed Auto Filter, and more.

Furthermore, with the optional rear radar/laser antenna module, additional radar and laser detection capabilities are provided from the rear not found on other brands of remotes.

The MSRP for the Whistler PRO-3600 is $479.95, the radar detector being expected to ship in January 2011.
